Ashland Book Festival

Saturday, October 8, 2016, 10 am - 4 pm
at Hannon Library, SOU

The Ashland Literary Festival is a celebration of books and all forms of literary art, showcased within Hannon Library’s beautiful architecture at the heart of Southern Oregon University's campus. Many facets of the community are brought together for this event, including authors of all genres, publishers, artists, and booksellers.

Evolving beyond the traditional book fair model, the Ashland Literary Festival promotes all literary art forms and encourages active participation from festival visitors. All are invited to attend the festival and enjoy a day filled with author readings, workshops, and more.

Our Mission

The Ashland Literary Festival is dedicated to the literary community of Southern Oregon, inspiring reading, writing, and creativity in all people. By bringing authors, sellers, and publishers under one roof, face to face with the public, we’re creating a new kind of literary experience for everyone to enjoy.

Our History

The Ashland Literary Festival is an annual literary event that takes place at Southern Oregon University’s Hannon Library. Created by Hannon Library and the Friends of Hannon Library, the first event – originally called the Ashland Book and Author Festival – took place on June 23, 2012. Nearly 100 authors, book sellers, publishers, and artists from Southern Oregon came together for a day of discussion, collaboration, and celebration. In following years, the festival continued to grow and evolve, with participants coming in from San Francisco to British Columbia. To commemorate the festival’s fifth anniversary, it was rebranded as the Ashland Literary Festival in reflection of the festival’s evolving framework.
