Borrowers are responsible for material checked out in their names. Overdue fines are charged to encourage prompt returns and to ensure access to the collections for other borrowers. There is no grace period on any item.
Fines
Materials returned to the library past the due date will be assessed the following fines:
General: $0.50 per
item per day. The maximum overdue fine is $20.00 per item.
Summit: $0.50 per
day for the first 10 days, and $1.00 thereafter. The maximum overdue fine
is $20.00 per item.
Reserves: $2.00 the first hour, $0.50 each hour thereafter, for each item. The maximum overdue fine is $20.00 per item.
Videos: $2.00 the first day, $0.50 each day thereafter, for each item. The maximum overdue fine is $20.00 per item.
Laptop computers: $5.00 the first hour, $2.00 each hour thereafter. The maximum overdue fine is $200.00 per item. Lost or damaged laptops incur replacement cost, $25.00 non-refundable service charge and accrued fine.
Interlibrary Loan: $2.00 per item per day. The maximum overdue fine is $20.00 per item.
Unreturned, lost, or damaged materials: $50.00 replacement cost, $15.00 non-refundable service charge, and accrued fine.
Unreturned, lost, or damaged Summit Materials: $75.00 replacement cost, $15.00 non-refundable service charge, and accrued fine.
Recalled overdue materials: $2.00 per item per day in addition to regular fines.
The library user is responsible for returning library materials on or before the due date. As a courtesy, the Hannon Library sends most overdue notices via email. Failure to receive an overdue notice does not release an individual from the obligation to pay any library charges assessed.
