Preparing for the Test

Here is a study guide to help prepare for the test, or you can pick one up in the Math & Science Lab.

On Your Testing Day

When you come in for your placement test, you can either check in with a tutor in the Writing Center or in the Math & Science Lab. You must provide your SOU student ID at the time of your test. Scratch paper and pencils are provided. You are allowed to use a calculator for your exam (no graphing calculators allowed), but will need to bring your own. The test has no time limit.

If you have taken the math placement test at SOU before, a $10 fee will be charged to your SOU account.

After the Test

After you have completed the test, your proctor will give you a sheet explaining your results and class options. If you have questions about this, please see your division’s advisor.

If you would like your placement score sent to another institution, please contact the Tutoring Center for a release form.

Please note that test scores are only valid for two years. Test scores older than two years cannot be sent to another institution or used for registration.
