Retrieves citations, summaries, and full-text of United States congressional bills, hearing testimony, and reports. Full-text documents have links to related bills, testimony, and other materials. Also retrieves legislative histories, the full text of the Code of Federal Regulations and Federal Register, House and Senate committee membership, voting records of members of the House and Senate, and selected news coverage of Federal legislative news. The Hot Topics file is useful for perspectives on possible research paper topics. Results may be printed, downloaded to disc, or e-mailed. In English. This huge multi-disciplinary database has full-text for over 5300 journals, including over 4400 that are peer-reviewed. It also has abstracts for an additional 9300 journals. This database is a good starting point for many research projects. - LexisNexis Academic
This database has several distinct modules. Two important ones are "News" and "Legal Research." "News" has more than 350 newspapers full-text from the U.S. and around the world as well as news magazines, broadcast transcripts, etc. "Legal" has federal and state case law, federal codes and regulations, and state codes among a host of other legal materials. - Campus Research (Westlaw)

The Congressional Research Service is a "think tank" that provides reports to members of Congress on a variety of topics relevant to current political events. A project of the Center for Democracy & Technology, Open CRS provides citizens access to CRS Reports that are in the public domain.
