Library Updates in Response to COVID-19

Library Research

Access to Library Resources

Many of our resources are already available online! Please explore our homepage or consult our Guide to Remote and Distance Learning guide for more information. Some new resources will be available online that weren't in the past. If you are having trouble finding what you need, contact the librarian most closely associated with your topic area.  Good news! Summit borrowing is available again!

Research Questions

During chat research hours, our chat service will continue to be available. Please feel free to use our Ask a Librarian service at other times. If you have a specific research question, try looking for the Research Guide most appropriate to your topic and contact that librarian.

Library Spaces

Please see our library hours page to see the most recent changes in hours for the library building. The library is currently restricted to SOU students, faculty, and staff.

On the first floor, there are 27 computers (PC and Mac) and one study area. On the second floor there are two study areas available. On the third floor, there are two more study areas.

Safety Measures

Face coverings are required inside the library. Masks are available at the front desk if needed.

Social Distancing

Seating has been arranged to encourage distancing and maintain a safe space. Please stay six feet from others, including both students and staff. Thank you for your cooperation.

Computer and study areas are monitored hourly and wiped down at least twice a day for your safety. Hand sanitizer and wipes are available.

We have a number of resources that can support online research, including some new resources that are temporarily available for this period. To learn more, see our Faculty Services: Support for Online Learning guide. Also, feel free to contact your liaison librarian for more information or to learn about discipline-specific resources. Librarians are also happy to set up Zoom research classes for your students.
