Students must submit three (3) printed copies of a graduate thesis or one (1) printed copy of a graduate project. Theses and projects must have all signatures and be cleared by the school as complete before they are sent to the Library.
Students are also required to submit an electronic copy of the thesis or project on CDROM or thumb drive, or by emailing the file as an attachment to Becca Evans (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Students are required to fill out the Thesis Binding Form, which also asks students to indicate their permission for the thesis or project to be added to Scholarship@SOU, SOU's open-access Institutional Repository.
Print copies of theses and projects and completed Theses Binding Forms need to be delivered to Becca Evans in Library 229. Questions about thesis and project binding and information about current binding fees should be directed to Becca Evans, Library Acquisitions Technician at 541/552-6841.
Graduate students completing theses are required to present three copies of the approved thesis, with signature page, as well as a copy in electronic format.
The student will complete a Thesis Binding Form, showing thesis title, author, and year. The form also requests permission for Hannon Library to digitize the thesis for inclusion in the Southern Oregon Digital Archives (SODA), in the Scholarship@SOU collection, SOU's institutional repository. If the thesis is already in a digital format, it may be submitted electronically via the Submit Your Work Google form.
After binding, one copy of the thesis is sent to the Hannon Library Collection, one copy is sent to the University Archives, and the third copy to the department conferring the graduate degree.
Hannon Library pays for the binding of one (1) copy of the graduate thesis for the library collections, and the student pays for the other two (2). The cost is $20 per bound volume, for a $40 total charge. The student must submit a check payable to SOU Hannon Library for the cost of binding two copies, as outlined on the bindery form. There may infrequently be additional fees if the thesis is over 2” thick, requires map pockets, or the text for the cover exceeds five lines.
Students who would like personal bound copies of the thesis will need to pay these additional costs (usually $20 per bound copy).
Graduate students completing projects are required to submit one print copy of the approved project, with signature page, as well as a copy in electronic format, to the appropriate Department office. The single print copy of the graduate project, the e-copy, and the completed Thesis Binding Form will be forwarded to the Hannon Library Acquisitions Technician who will oversee sending the manuscript to the bindery.
