Request from ILL

  1. Search the Hannon Library Search to see if the item is available locally.

  2. If not available locally, update the search scope to Hannon + Summit

  3. If not available via Summit, update the search scope to Articles, Books & More

  4. If your title shows up, click on the Get It tab.

  5. Click on the link "...request item through Interlibrary Loan"

  6. Sign in using your SOU campus login credentials (first time users will need to register for an ILL account). The citation information from the catalog search should populate the form.

    • If your item does not show up in the search, go directly to the ILL request form

  7. Make sure the mandatory fields marked with an asterisk are entered, and write any notes or comments in the Notes field.

  8. Click the Submit Request button

ILL Policies

  • There is no limit to the number of ILL book requests; however, please do not request more items than you can use in the loan period.

  • ILL book arrival time = 3 days to 3 weeks depending on where is is coming from.

  • ILL article arrival time = 1-3 days.

  • ILL loan period = 6 weeks (print); 12 days (media). No renewals.

  • ILL hold shelf period = 5 days (print), 3 days (media), no extensions.

  • Overdue fines are $0.50 per day, per item, maximum $20.00.

  • ILL items are subject to recall. Due dates may be shortened by the owning institution.

  • Items are billed for replacement after 30 days overdue. Replacement costs are determined by the lending library.

  • Items that have been billed for replacement will be credited the cost of replacement, but will be assessed the overdue charge, and the non-refundable billing service charge of $15.00.

  • If you need an ILL item longer than the allotted loan period, return the item on time and place a new request. You are able to track the progress of your requests and loans by logging into your ILL account.

  • Items my be picked up and returned at Hannon Library.

  • If you no longer need a requested item, you may cancel the request by logging into your ILL account, or contacting

  • Articles and book chapters are sent electronically via email with information for how to access it, or view it from your ILL account.

  • All library related notifications are sent via e-mail.
