Request from Summit

  1. Start your search using the library catalog (linked to on the Home Page under Find Books and Other Resources). Make sure the radio button is toggled to: Hannon + Summit + Articles
  2. Search by title, author, or keywords.
  3. Sign in to the catalog by clicking on the yellow bar at the top of your search results.
  4. When you find an item in the search results that you’d like to use, look for a link at the bottom of the entry. If you see an orange link that reads Request options, you can request through Summit or Interlibrary Loan. (If the item shows a green link Available at Hannon Library or View full text options, then we have the item in our collection and there is no need to request it through Summit.)
  5. In the Get It section of the request details, you will see request options. If you see the options Request Summit Copy (about 5 days) you can click this to proceed with your request. If you don’t see the Summit link, select Request through Interlibrary Loan to proceed.
  6. Select your preferred Pickup/Delivery location from the drop-down menu (default is Hannon Library. You can also choose Medford RCC to pick the item up from the RCC library Riverside campus.)
  7. Click the green REQUEST link in the lower right corner of the popup.
  8. You will then see a message that your request was placed.
  9. If you receive a cancellation notice, you can resubmit the request through Interlibrary Loan.

Summit Policies

Loan & Hold Periods

Please limit your requests to what you can use during the loan period.

Other Policies

  • Overdue fines are $.50 per day, per item, maximum $20.00.
  • Items are billed for replacement after 30 days overdue.
  • Replacement cost for lost or damaged items = $90.00. Replacement costs are non-refundable if lost items are returned after replacement payment has been made to owning library.
  • If you need a Summit item longer than the allotted loan period, return the item on time and place a new request. You are able to track the progress of your requests and loans by logging into your library account.
  • Items may be returned at Hannon Library, Rogue Community College, or any Summit library.
  • If you no longer need a requested item, you may cancel the request by logging into your library account, or contacting ill@sou.edu.
  • Summit pickup and overdue notices are sent to your sou.edu email address.
